Registration Guide

Please read before completing your registration:

NAME

Directory is a people-first platform, and all listings require a legitimate first and last name. Duo titles, company names, and collectives cannot be accepted as entries.

If you work as part of a duo or collective, you are welcome to link to a shared page where appropriate.

LOCATION/S

In listing a location, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. You live in that town / city.
  2. You work as a “local” in that town / city and have a creative network there.

In practical terms: if someone hired you in that location, you would not charge for travel or accommodation.

ROLE(S) & FORMAT(S)

You should be actively working in any role or format you select, based on current experience. We may ask for examples of recent work. Or, be represented by an agency or production company for that format in the case that you don’t yet have examples of such work.

Every role and format listed on your Directory profile must be represented by work on your linked reel or portfolio. This keeps the moderation process fair and consistent, and ensures a positive experience for those searching within specific roles or formats.

Please only select roles you actively collaborate with others in. For example, if you are a director who shoots and edits their own work but does not shoot or edit for other directors, you should list yourself as a director only.

COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

Many types of films are commercial by nature, but for listing on Directory, we define the "Commercial" format as a client project produced within a collaborative advertising production pipeline.

To qualify, past projects must meet at least 3 of the following criteria:

  1. The client is a nationally or globally recognised brand.
  2. An advertising agency or in-house creative department produced the creative.
  3. A production company was engaged to produce the project.
  4. The project aired on broadcast TV, in cinemas, or on a streaming platform.

OR, if you are represented:

A filmworker represented by a company, agency, or talent agent specifically for commercials also qualifies, provided that company regularly engages in work that satisfies the criteria above.

Note

Projects that don't meet the requirements above (including self-produced, direct-to-client, organic/online-only) may fall under "Branded Content". For commercial fashion projects, we have a dedicated "Fashion Film" category.

FEATURE PROJECTS

"Narrative Features" and "Documentary Features" are intended for filmmakers with experience in the respective format, defined by officially announced pre-production, a near-completed or completed project.

Projects in pre-production are not eligible for listing unless they can be supported by external press from a credible source. Acceptable sources include: Trade publications, festival announcements, or official studio or brand announcements.

OR, if you are represented:

Where a completed project is not yet available, filmmakers represented specifically for feature projects by a company, agency, or talent agent also qualify.

UPDATES & CHANGES

Your listing can be updated at any time. If a project is currently in development or unreleased, or you have upcoming work in a new role, you are welcome to return and update your listing when the work becomes available to the public.

We are actively refining our criteria based on feedback from the community. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please reach out by email. Thank you!
